Tegu Stunt Team Looper Review: The 7-Piece Set Explained

Tegu's Stunt Team series has captured the imagination of kids and parents alike, and the Looper is one of its most intriguing members. This 7-piece magnetic wooden block set promises to bring the thrill of stunt flying to your child's playroom. But does it live up to the hype? In this review, we'll break down the Looper's design, play value, and how it fits into the broader Tegu universe.

As a parent, you're always looking for toys that are both fun and educational. Tegu blocks are known for their quality craftsmanship and the way they encourage open-ended creativity. The Looper, with its unique shape and magnetic connections, is no exception. Let's dive into what makes this set special and whether it deserves a spot in your collection.

What's in the Tegu Stunt Team Looper 7-Piece Set?

The Looper set includes seven precisely crafted wooden pieces, each embedded with powerful magnets. The centerpiece is the loop-shaped block that gives the set its name, along with a variety of angled and straight connectors. These pieces are designed to snap together seamlessly, allowing kids to build a stunt plane that can perform loops and dives.

Tegu's attention to detail is evident in every block. The wood is smooth, rounded, and finished with a non-toxic, water-based lacquer that highlights the natural grain. The magnets are strong enough to hold the structure together during play but easy enough for small hands to separate. This set is recommended for ages 3 and up, making it accessible to a wide range of children.

• 7 pieces: 1 loop, 2 angled blocks, 2 straight blocks, and 2 small connectors
• Magnetic connections allow for quick assembly and easy modification
• Compatible with all other Tegu magnetic wooden sets

Building with the Looper: A Hands-On Experience

From the moment you open the box, the Looper invites experimentation. The pieces are intuitive, and even young children can figure out how to connect them. The loop block is the star: it can be attached to the straight and angled pieces to create a plane with a dramatic arc. The result is a toy that looks like it's mid-stunt even when stationary.

One of the joys of Tegu blocks is their versatility. While the Looper is designed to be a stunt plane, you're not limited to that. The pieces can be rearranged to form a variety of shapes, from animals to abstract sculptures. This open-ended nature encourages problem-solving and spatial reasoning, making it a valuable educational tool.

Play Value: How Does the Looper Perform?

In our testing, the Looper proved to be a hit with kids aged 4 to 8. The magnetic connections are satisfying to click together, and the loop shape adds a unique element that other building sets lack. Children enjoyed creating different configurations and even combined the Looper with other Tegu sets, such as the 24-Piece Set, to build larger structures.

The durability is typical of Tegu: the blocks withstand rough play and repeated assembly. The magnets remain strong after many uses, and the wood finish resists scratches and dents. Parents will appreciate that the set comes in a sturdy, reusable box that makes storage and travel easy.

Comparing the Looper to Other Tegu Stunt Team Sets

The Stunt Team series includes other sets like the Daredevil and the Stunt Team 7, but the Looper stands out for its distinctive loop piece. While the Daredevil focuses on a sleek jet design, the Looper's loop adds a different dimension to play. If you're looking for variety, the Looper is a great addition to any Stunt Team collection.

For those who want to expand their Tegu collection, consider the 4 Travel Pal Bundle or the Travel Pals - Hummingbird set. These smaller sets are perfect for on-the-go play and can be combined with the Looper for even more creative possibilities. The Looper's pieces are compatible with all Tegu magnetic blocks, so the sky's the limit.

Is the Tegu Looper Worth the Investment?

At its price point, the Looper offers excellent value for a 7-piece set. The unique loop shape and high-quality construction justify the cost, especially when you consider the longevity of Tegu products. It's a toy that will be used for years, not just a passing fad.

If you're on the fence, think about your child's interests. If they love building and imaginative play, the Looper is a solid choice. It also makes a great gift for birthdays or holidays.
